Easter will be here before we know it and I’ve got lots of helpful Easter ham ideas to help you celebrate!
Easter is in just a few short weeks, and odds are we will probably still be needing to socially distance ourselves from extended family and friends that we might usually celebrate with. BUT, that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate with your immediate family and enjoy a delicious meal. And for my family, that has always meant an Easter ham.
Typical Easter ham has a sugar-y glaze
Most Easter ham recipes and store bought hams have a pretty sugar-y glaze as part of the recipe or already cooked with it on it. But, this year Sprouts will have a ready to go, already cooked apple smoked uncured ham with no added sugar ready to purchase in stores. I had the chance to try one and it is out of this world! It was super simple to prepare, you literally just pop it in your oven for about an hour to an hour and a half (depending on the size) and you’re good to go. Since it is already cooked and seasoned, there’s not much you need to do extra, which is so nice!
No added sugar Easter ham from Sprouts Farmer’s Market
If you’re interested in the all-natural, no added sugar (and no antibiotics or added hormones) Easter ham at Sprouts, you can just add it to your list of things to pick up from Sprouts the next time you go. You don’t even need to reserve one ahead of time. I know we’re all trying (and needing) to be diligent with our trips to the grocery store right now, so rest assured, they will be in store when you get there, or add one to your Instacart order!
And once you have that ham, here are my helpful Easter ham ideas for how to prep and serve it…
Tips for serving ham at Easter
- Buy 1/2-3/4 lbs per person to serve, plus a little extra for leftovers. (Most people also use about 1/4 lb. for a leftover sandwich!)
- Don’t marinate your ham before cooking. Most hams sold in stores, including those at Sprouts, are already seasoned and good to go. In fact, marinating it may ruin the taste a bit. Instead, serve it with a sauce for people who may enjoy that. This is my quick and easy Dijon sauce I love:
Dijon Mustard Sauce
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 2 Tbsp Sprouts brand Dijon mustard
- 1 Tbsp flour I used a gluten free flour blend
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 Tbsp onion powder
- 3 Tbsp butter
Instructions
- Combine the whole milk, Dijon mustard, flour, salt, and onion powder in a pan over medium heat. Stir it constantly while it begins to thicken for about 5 minutes.
- You don’t want the mixture to boil, so make sure to pull it off the heat if you see bubbles.
- Add the butter, stirring constantly until it melts and the sauce is smooth.

Nutrition
3. Serve ham with your favorite veggie-loaded side dishes. See below for some of my favorites.
4. Heat an already cooked refrigerated, but not frozen, ham for 10 minutes/pound.
5. The no added sugar ham I mentioned above from Sprouts comes with a glaze you can put on it if you like, or you can leave it off all together, or try a new recipe you find online!
6. You can store uneaten ham in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in a sealed container. You can freeze any uneaten portions after 5 days and they should keep in your freezer for about 4-6 weeks.
