Pizza dough recipe with yeast

Yeast is a critical ingredient for most bread recipes, including gluten free pizza crust dough. When combined with water and sugar, dry yeast activates and eats the sugar. 

This reaction produces carbon dioxide bubbles within the dough. The carbon dioxide bubbles expand when exposed to heat, triggering the dough to rise. 

How to make gluten free pizza crust

Gather the gluten free flour, salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, olive oil, warm water, and active dry yeast. 

Follow your bread maker’s instructions to add in the ingredients or if making by hand, follow the instructions in a standard crust recipe.

Once dough is ready, spread it to the desired thickness.

Bake for 5-7 min on 425 degrees, remove the crust from the oven, pile on the toppings, bake for an additional 10-12 minutes.

Let cool for an additional 10-15 minutes before slicing.

Tips for making gluten free pizza dough

  • Allow to the dough to rest for at least 15 minutes
  • Skip the kneading! Gluten free pizza dough does not have gluten, therefore kneading is not necessary
  • Wet your fingers before you try and spread the dough into a pizza crust

Instructions

  • Follow your bread maker’s instructions to add in ingredients or if making by hand, carefully combine all ingredients and stir thoroughly to make a uniform dough.
  • Once the dough is ready, spread it to the desired thickness.
  • Bake the crust for 5-7 min on 425 degrees.
  • Remove the pan from the oven, and pile on the toppings.
  • Bake for an additional 10-12 minutes.
  • Let the pizza cool for an additional 10-15 minutes before slicing.

  2. You talk about sugar and how it works with the yeast, but there’s no sugar in your recipe. Is there supposed to be sugar? Or does this dough not rise? I thought that might be the case since your directions don’t include a rise time. Not trying to be critical ~ just wanting to not waste ingredients! ?
