Ready, set, pizza! Whether you’re watching the big game, or just looking for a new homemade pizza option, this Goat Cheese and California Grape Pizza combines flavor and nutrition for the perfect pizza option!

Grapes on pizza

Anytime we think about fruit on pizza, lots of people think of pineapple… but adding grapes to your pizza is another sweet and nutritious option too. It’s hard to beat the salty sweet flavor combo of adding fruit and veggies on top of a delicious crust with your favorite cheese choices.

Roasted grapes on pizza

One of the reasons we get such a delicious burst of flavor with a grape pizza is because we’re roasting the grapes. Roasting grapes brings out their natural sweetness and enhances their flavor. It also makes them extra juicy, which I love!

California grapes and gut health

And, we can’t forget about the nutritional and health value of grapes as well. This time of year we start to see more and more rich food options and lots of social events centered around delicious foods. And because of this, I love adding California grapes to different recipes for many reasons, but particularly for their gut health benefits…

Clearly, we have many reasons to love adding California grapes to recipes! But, what about the other ingredients we’re using in this recipe?

Goat cheese on pizza

For this pizza we use a combination of an Italian cheese blend and one of my favorites: goat cheese!

Why is goat cheese so good on pizza? I love it for the texture variety it provides as well as the flavor. It also tends to be a bit lower in sodium than some other cheeses.

Does goat cheese melt like mozzarella?

Goat cheese will not melt like mozzarella. As you’ll notice in the pictures of our grape pizza in this post, it tends to hold it’s shape but will get quite soft and creamy!

Grilled chicken pizza

While we are using grilled chicken in this specific grape pizza recipe, you could swap it out for another preferred protein. Lean pork tenderloin, tofu, or edamame would also make great protein additions.

Almond flour pizza crust

We don’t follow a specific almond flour pizza crust recipe here, but if you have one you love, make sure to share it with us in the comments. I prefer to use a mix that I get from the grocery store. So, it’s not fully homemade, but I can still decide what shape and thickness of crust I want to go with.

You can also use a pre-made frozen pizza crust too.

Goat Cheese California Grape and Chicken Pizza Recipe

You’ll notice we’re not using a traditional red sauce for this recipe. Instead, we’re using a balsamic glaze. The balsamic glaze pairs better with the other flavors in this recipe in my opinion. In fact, balsamic roasted grapes is one of my favorite ways to enjoy California grapes!

Other topping ideas for California grape pizza

If you want to take this grape pizza up to another level, you could also add some caramelized onions and arugula. This would add a small amount of fiber and lots of flavor!
